1.00 General
1.01 Description
A. Work under this section shall include furnishing and erecting of all
limestone veneer as shown on contract drawing and specified herein.
B. Related work specified elsewhere shall include limestone veneer
structural support system.
C. Work installed but furnished under other sections shall include veneer
anchoring system, caulking, sealants, and flashing.
D. Limestone veneer wall system shall meet minimum standards as
recommended by Indiana Limestone Institute.
E. Veneer limestone shall meet requirements of ASTM C-568 for limestone. 1.02
Submittals
Shop Drawings:
A. Shop drawings shall be prepared showing all pertinent information for
limestone veneer including size, location, and anchorage system. Fabrication shall proceed
in accordance with approved shop drawings.
B. Cut limestone veneer shall be (choose one): Bottom Ledge Cottonwood,
Top Ledge Cottonwood, Center Ledge Cottonwood, Full Range Cottonwood Limestone,
Onaga, Tuxedo
Grey as fabricated by Bayer Stone, Inc. (800/255-9399). Rubble limestone veneer shall be
(choose one): Manhattan White, Onaga, Silver and Gold, Tuxedo Grey as fabricated by Bayer Stone, Inc. Rubble to be
laid in a webwall and/or ashlar pattern
(2"-3",4"-5",6"-8",9"-12", 4"-12"rise). Choose one or more
size ranges and specify percentage of each. Bed width is 3 1/2"-4" (except on webwall where bed is 4"-6").
C. Limestone samples shall be furnished and submitted for approval.
Samples shall show full range of color, markings, and characteristics, and finish of
limestone. Samples shall be clearly labeled and upon approval shall become standard of
this selection.
1.03 Delivery, Storage and Handling
A. Limestone shall be delivered to jobsite adequately braced to prevent
chipping, cracking and breaking, covered with shrink wrap to stay on until the limestone
is used.
B. Limestone stored at jobsite shall be protected from the elements and
be stacked or braced to prevent undue stresses on limestone.
C. Limestone shall be handled from fabricating plant through erection at
jobsite by equipment designed and customarily used for conveyance of stone or other
similar materials.
1.04 Job Conditions
Limestone installer shall ascertain that limestone support system shall be completed and
ready to accept installation of limestone.
1.05 Protection
A. Installer shall protect all adjacent areas and surfaces from damage
due to installation of limestone.
B. Installer shall protect all work, finished or unfinished, against
damage caused by installer or other trades.
C. Installer shall take all safety precautions necessary to prevent
chipping or cracking of limestone during execution of work.
D. Limestone installer shall program limestone installation to meet
approved construction schedule.
1.06 Quality Criteria
A. Limestone installer shall employ competent workmen in execution of
work.
B. Design and related criteria shall meet minimum standards of the
Indiana Limestone Institute.
2.00 Products
Materials:
A. Limestone shall have characteristics as shown in the chart at the
bottom of this page.
B. Limestone shall be domestically produced by Bayer Stone, Inc.
(800/255-9399}.
3.00 Execution
A. All work under this section shall be inspected by owner's
representatives prior to acceptance for recommendation of payment.
B. All material in vicinity of and adjacent to limestone shall be ade-
quately prepared in accordance with manufacturer and Bayer Stone, Inc. requirements for
installation of limestone.
C. All materials used in installation of limestone shall be in accordance
with manufacturer's requirements.
D. After completion of work, all exposed limestone surfaces shall be
carefully cleaned to remove dirt, stains, or other defacements. Under no circumstances
shall wire brushes, harsh abrasive cleaners or acid be used to clean limestone. |
